Day 3 (Saturday)
Saturday was great! I exercised in the morning while Jonathan took his boy scouts to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. For some reason today working out wasn't a chore. My hips didn't hurt at all while I was jogging, and I felt great. I was able to run continuously for 9 minutes...almost a mile. This has really encouraged me. It seems like I wasn't as bad shape as I thought I was. I was so encouraged that I lifted weights for a little while and worked my abs. I always feel so fit after doing a bunch of crunches. Even if I'm so sore I can't sit up right away I pat my belly and love how firm it feels. :) Silly but true. My post-workout weight was 137. I laughed about that because preworkout it was 140. Something tells me I can't completely trust electronic scales.
Day 4 (Sunday)
No workouts on Sunday. I love that research is now confirming what the Lord gave as commandment so long ago. A day of rest is good for you. We need time to recover and regroup.
Day 5 (Monday)
I didn't think I'd make it to the gym today, but I did! I started the 60 day challenge when I was on vacation from school, and it's a lot easier to tell yourself you're going to exercise every day when you don't have anything to do. Today was my first day back at work after the Succos holiday (a Jewish holiday celebrating the Lord's protection of the Israelites while the were in the wilderness). Things get so much harder when you're working like a normal person! I finally hit the gym at 9:30 PM. On Saturday, I saw a woman reading while she was on the elliptical. It made me think that maybe I could do the same thing on a treadmill...or maybe I could get distracted an fall off, but you never know until you try. I needed to do some reading as well, so I took it with me to the gym. I didn't have time to do both separately. I discovered that I can indeed workout while reading. The only setback is that I can't run and read at the same time....it's too hard to keep your place. So, I cranked up the incline and walked for 30 minutes. I burned the same amount of calories as I do when I jog. Pretty sweet. I skipped the weights today so that I could go to sleep.
Day 6 (Tuesday)
First day of failure... I didn't have time to work out today. :( Or, I guess I didn't make time to work out. It was busy, but I'll do better tomorrow. And I should probably make a plan for Tuesdays...things get so crazy with Young Women's in the evenings. Maybe I'll have to workout in the morning on Tuesdays.
On the food side of things. I've been trying to eat at least one piece of fruit each day. I've been doing pretty well. I've been bringing lite canned peaches with me to work for lunch and eating a pear before dinner. It helps to curb the feeding frenzy by filling up on something healthy first. (My sister Shelley taught me that). Still not drinking enough water, but I'm trying. I feel like I have to pee all the time! It's driving me crazy!
